Reflecting on NDEO 2024

Reflections: NDEO 2024 National Conference

We had an incredible time connecting with dance education colleagues at the NDEO 2024 National Conference!

Daria, Erin and Rachael at the DEL Table!

We’re so grateful to everyone who participated in a DEL workshop at NDEO 2024. Educators from across the country shared their excitement to bring the DEL Model into their own classrooms, which truly inspired us. 🫶

Educators were also excited about the free curriculum resources available on our site:

At the Conference

The DEL Movement Sentence Choir was a beautiful dancemaking process.

Facilitator Taryn Vander Hoop centered the workshop around the theme “REVITALIZE YOUR PRACTICE” and Movement Sentence “SHAKE CONNECT SPARK.”

Dance educators across various teaching environments can easily replicate our Movement Sentence Choir process, guiding their students to create collaborative dances in large groups. We cherish every opportunity to share this process with our community, so they can bring it back to theirs.

We got to connect and dance with past DEL participants and folks who have never experienced DEL before. A viewer shared that they were shocked to see what a beautiful dance was created in such a short amount of time.

The Early Childhood Panel (a collaboration between DEL and Luna Dance and Creativity) was wonderfully well-attended.

Participants were curious about how DEL can assist them in bringing the DEL Model to their schools. They shared that they left energized to advocate for early childhood dance in their communities!

Daria Fitzgerald and Deborah Damast’s workshop on Early Childhood Ballet was a success.

Participants were excited to learn how to use the DEL Model to fuse ballet technique and creative expression in early childhood ballet classes!

Participants in Daria Fitzgerald and Sandi Stratton-Gonzalez’s workshop on the DEL Dance and Literacy curriculum shared that they are taking away valuable literacy strategies to enhance learning for all their students. We love hearing that!

In Ann Biddle and Erin Lally’s session on Cultivating Best Practices in Online Learning, participants engaged in movement activities pulled from DEL’s asynchronous courses and DEL Institute curriculum.

Huge thanks to everyone who made NDEO 2024 a beautiful experience filled with connection and inspiration!
