New Director of the DEL Institute, Ann Biddle
Ann Biddle, Director, Dance Education Laboratory (DEL) at Jacob’s Pillow and Founding Faculty of DEL 92Y has greatly contributed to the growth and development of DEL for its nearly 30 years of existence.
We are thrilled to welcome her into a new role as Director of the DEL Institute, our new Professional Learning and Advancement in Dance Education Teacher Certificate Program, which launches January 2022. Ann is a leading force in the field of dance education and brings her wealth of experience and passion as a dance educator, choreographer, professional developer, curriculum writer, and school administrator to the DEL Institute.

Ann shared with us what she’s looking forward to in this new role and what she aims to accomplish with this new initiative!
“I am so excited to launch this new initiative at DEL! Despite the devastation that COVID brought over this past year and a half, it also became a catalyst for innovative change in the field of dance education. At DEL in 2020 we had to quickly pivot to a remote learning platform, so we could continue to provide excellent professional learning for the dance education community. We succeeded in being able to break through physical barriers of space and connect with dance educators across our country and world!
This is a dream come true for me as I have always envisioned DEL expanding our reach beyond NYC. The new Zoom reality has given us a platform to be able to connect across time zones and to bring more people together into our community of practice. The beauty of the DEL model is its universality; dance is a universal language we all speak! Plus there are infinite ways to apply the model in multiple learning contexts. Join our community! DEL is here to connect, support, nurture and develop dance educators across the career continuum!”
The DEL Institute Teacher Certificate program was born out of a desire to continue to expand our reach to support all dance educators wherever they live and at whatever juncture they are in their careers.
The DEL Institute will be offering a hybrid learning environment which we carefully designed to provide extensive training in all aspects of the DEL Model. Our Certificate program is curated to provide personalized coaching and mentoring throughout the entire learning journey. We want our participants to feel nurtured and supported at all points in their professional learning. Our incredibly talented and experienced faculty will offer asynchronous and synchronous courses in the DEL Teacher Certificate program.
